But when I relaunch Word 2016, none of the template saves are present. I try saving differently, via Normal.dotx, which is where the Normal.dotx got into the folder in the first place. Should I not be trying to save Word Macro-Enabled Template (.dotm)? OK, fine. The document “Document1” could not be saved as “Normal.dotm”. Type a different name for the document you want to save. Word cannot give a document the same name as an open document. Other user advice to save in the above location returns this dialog: Following official MS advice to save-as templates does not work for me. This folder currently has Normal.dotm and Normal.dotx. So, I have located my Word 2016 templates at: /Users//Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Templates/ It seems there is confusion about the directory location of saved templates.
It seems some others have found problems with altering the Normal template and found no joy from MS forums. I have no issues running them concurrently. Although I did a clean install, I did not uninstall MS Office 2011 apps. I am running a brand new Macbook Pro 9,2 with Yosemite 10.10.5. I have not had the previews, and I just updated to 15.14.0 (150911). I customized the install to include only Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
I did a clean install of Microsoft Office for Mac 2016 from installers from my campus bookstore.
